We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mortgage Broker to join The Good Broker team. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding clients through the lending process, identifying suitable loan products, and ensuring seamless finance approvals. This position will play a pivotal role in maintaining the business’s reputation for excellence, integrity, and client-focused service.
The Mortgage Broker will work closely with the Director and support staff, liaising with banks, lenders, and financial institutions to negotiate favourable lending terms. The role requires a strong balance of technical financial knowledge and interpersonal skills, ensuring clients are fully informed and confident at every step of their financial journey.
Qualifications & Experience
• A relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field (minimum Diploma).
• Proven experience as a Mortgage Broker, Finance Broker, or in a financial services role, with at least one year industry experience.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse financial documents and assess client borrowing capacity.
• Strong knowledge of lending products, credit policy, and mortgage/finance regulations in Australia.
• Prior exposure to commercial lending or specialist finance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interview prospective clients to assess their financial situation, goals, and borrowing requirements.
• Analyse clients’ financial position, including income, liabilities, and credit history, to determine loan eligibility.
• Research and compare a wide range of home loans, refinancing options, SMSF loans, and commercial finance products.
• Recommend tailored loan structures and product combinations that best suit clients’ needs.
• Arrange finance approvals by liaising with banks, lenders, and financiers to secure competitive rates and terms.
• Prepare and submit finance applications, ensuring all compliance and documentation requirements are met.
• Explain loan conditions, repayment schedules, insurance options, and risk implications to clients.
• Assist clients with related products such as income protection or property insurance, identifying and advising on risk exposures.
• Broker commercial and project finance, equipment finance, and complex property loans where required.
• Monitor market trends, interest rates, and lending policies, advising clients of opportunities or changes affecting their loan.
• Develop long-term client relationships, providing education and ongoing support beyond settlement.
• Collaborate with the firm’s accounting partners to deliver holistic financial advice and integrated solutions.
Skills & Attributes:
• Strong knowledge of mortgage and finance products across residential, commercial, and specialist lending.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and compliance.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with clients, maintaining long-term professional relationships.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
