Salary: $111,607 plus 12% superannuation
Our client, Ramps Ridge Services Pty Ltd, operates a large-scale farming enterprise covering approximately 3,547 hectares in the Riverina region. The business specialises in sheep and beef production, along with seasonal broadacre cropping, predominantly cotton. The client is nationally accredited under the National Feedlot Assurance System (NFAS) and approved for all major global markets.
The client is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Mixed Crop and Livestock Farmer to join its team. This is a full-time role responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing both livestock and crop production to ensure sustainable farm operations. The position requires hands-on involvement in breeding and raising livestock, managing animal health and nutrition, and overseeing broadacre cropping programs including planting, fertilising, pest and weed control, and harvesting.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring farm infrastructure, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with biosecurity and safety regulations. This role requires a strong balance of practical farm management skills, technical knowledge of crop and livestock production, and the ability to supervise and train farm staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and coordinate the production and marketing of livestock and crops
• Breed, raise, and monitor livestock, ensuring their health, welfare, and productivity through appropriate feeding and care practices.
• Provide pastures and fodder to maintain optimum nutrition levels for livestock.
• Select and purchase seeds for planting, and plan and implement breeding programs.
• Oversee general farming activities such as fertilising, irrigation, and pest and weed control.
• Maintain and repair farm infrastructure, including fences, water systems, and buildings.
• Organise the sale, purchase, and transportation of livestock and produce.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of farm operations, production, and financial activities.
• Monitor market conditions and adjust production plans accordingly.
• Manage business capital and resources efficiently to support sustainable growth.
• Select, train, and supervise junior staff, seasonal workers, and contractors.
Qualifications and Experience:
• bachelor degree or higher qualification (at least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification)
• Proven experience in managing both livestock and broadacre cropping operations.
• Strong mechanical and technical skills for machinery and equipment operation and repair.
• Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship.
• Ability to work independently as well as lead and supervise teams.
• Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
