An Australian chemical manufacturing group is looking for a hardworking and qualified Mining Engineer / Quarry Manager for its quarry. The position is a full-time residential role located near Young in NSW, Australia, approximately 365 km from Sydney and 160 km from Canberra.

They are a critical minerals supplier based in the picturesque town of Young. With a fully integrated processing plant and a resource life in excess of 40 years, they are an important part of the nation’s agricultural supply chain. Their products also have applications in soil remediation, water treatment, defence, and electric vehicles, contributing to the environment and security of Australia and its allies.

Qualifications, experience and requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering from a recognised institution with a good academic record.
• At least 5 years hands-on experience in supervision of open cut mining operations with experience at small mines or quarries and demonstrated good knowledge and experience in mining industry.
• Experience in mining clay-based industrial minerals during wet conditions.
• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in English.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and mining software.

Responsibilities will include:
• Planning, supervising and managing engineering aspects of open pit excavation, screening, crushing, washing, photometric ore sorting, and rehabilitation operations.
• Supervising and managing maintenance of earth moving equipment, fixed and mobile material handling systems, and electronic control systems.
• Supplying quality and quantity of ore as per the requirement of the plant within budget.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments to ensure the safety of mining processes including leading safety meetings, performing regular workplace inspections, and implementing risk control measures to safeguard all personnel and equipment.
• Complying with all mining-related regulatory and statutory requirements, including reports to mines inspectorate and others, and getting approvals for licences and plans.
• Oversee refurbishment of existing plant and equipment operation where required, acquisition and installation of new equipment.
