Austmin Development Pty Ltd trading as Everlon, is a leader in the dimension stone industry, is seeking a highly motivated, safety-focused, and experienced Mine Deputy to join our dynamic team. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of our granite quarry.

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Compliance (Primary Focus):

• Enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations without exception.
• Conduct pre-shift safety inspections of the pit, equipment, and work areas, documenting and correcting hazards promptly.
• Lead safety meetings and training sessions for crew members.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain all required safety and production records in accordance with state and federal laws.

Operational Excellence:

• Directly supervise quarry personnel and daily mining activities, including drilling, loading, and hauling.
• Oversee the extraction of granite blocks, ensuring quality standards are met.
• Collaborate with the Quarry Manager to develop and execute short-range mining plans.
• Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
• Optimise production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

Leadership & Team Development:

• Provide direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to equipment operators and other quarry staff.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and proactive team culture centered on safety and quality.
• Assist in scheduling, assigning tasks, and evaluating crew performance.

Required Qualifications & Certifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a surface mining environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of quarry operations, including drilling, and heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders).
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience specifically in a granite or hard rock quarry.
• Formal education in Mine Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
