About the Position
As a Materials Engineer at Wahoo Pool and Landscape Construction, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the durability, compliance, and performance of materials used in our premium concrete pool and landscaping projects. Reporting to project management and collaborating closely with engineers, architects, and construction teams, this full-time position focuses on expert material selection, testing, and technical guidance to uphold our commitment to quality and innovation in every build across South East Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert advice and technical support to project management teams on optimal material selection for concrete pools, landscaping elements, and related structures.
Assess and recommend suitable materials, including concrete mixes, reinforcements, liners, and finishes, tailored to project requirements, site conditions, and Queensland's environmental factors.
Establish, implement, and oversee material testing protocols to ensure full compliance with Australian Standards, industry regulations, and internal quality benchmarks.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, designers, and on-site construction teams to integrate material specifications into design, planning, and building processes for seamless project delivery.
Monitor material performance during construction phases and recommend adjustments or alternatives to mitigate risks and enhance longevity.
Contribute to continuous improvement by staying abreast of advancements in construction materials and sharing insights to elevate overall project outcomes.
Requirements
Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Bachelor of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (or equivalent recognised qualification).
Minimum 3 years of full-time relevant experience in materials engineering, preferably in construction, concrete, or civil engineering applications.
Strong technical knowledge of material properties (especially concrete and related composites), testing methods, and Australian construction standards (e.g., AS 1379, AS 3600, AS 1012).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a commitment to quality assurance.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities to work productively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and tradespeople.
Proactive mindset with the ability to provide clear technical recommendations and adapt to project-specific challenges.
