The Role We are seeking a talented Survey Manager to provide surveying industry knowledge and effective project management skills to support the activities and growth of our Melbourne office. As Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the survey team and lead the team to deliver high performing results. Key Responsibilities: Provide input into the designing, reviewing and delivery of the survey sub-sector and state business plans Responsible for managing people within the local team with feedback and consultation from the state sector manager and survey national manager Ensures the operational and technical excellence and performance of the survey team with the effect of growing the function through optimal people, commercial, business development, client relationship management and project performance Ensuring that surveying tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC Providing leadership to team members, contributors, and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness, and co-ordination of day-to-day project deliverables Participate in strategic business development activities Managing client relationships Applying project management principles to deliver assigned projects to the required standard in a timely manner The incumbent will role model SMEC and the SJ Group values, ethics and code of conduct and ensure all business activities are carried out in accordance with these guiding principles. About You With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in a consulting environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work. Suitable applicants will have or be: 10+ years’ experience in surveying, including several years at project manager level and/or managing teams Relevant professional Surveying qualifications Project experience in a range of client sectors (land development, civil construction, transport infrastructure etc.) Licensed Surveyor status will be well regarded Ability to provide key technical expertise and manage risks across a broad range of high-profile projects A strong track record in managing, mentoring, and developing staff Participate in strategic business development activities Managing client relationships In return, SMEC offers you the benefits that come from working in a global multidisciplinary consultancy in an environment where your fresh ideas and enthusiasm will be welcomed and rewarded.
