About the role The Manager Compliance Programs reports to the Group Compliance & Privacy Officer within the Group Risk Compliance & Insurance team. The role is responsible for the delivery of key compliance programs led by the GRCI team, and working within the broader Group Compliance team to maintain and build AGL’s broader compliance practices and proactive compliance culture. The role supports the Group Compliance & Privacy Officer and the General Manager, GRCI in fulfilling their responsibilities to the Company Secretary, and in interactions with the Audit and Risk Management Committee, AGL Executive and senior management on compliance related matters. The scope of the role is enterprise wide and as a result the Manager Compliance Programs will be required to engage and develop effective working relationships across the business. Key Accountabilities Material Compliance Obligations – Modern Slavery & Human Rights Lead AGL’s modern slavery program. Ensure AGL maintains a leading practice and continuous improvement approach to the identification, assessment and management of Modern Slavery risks within its operations and supply chain. Support AGL’s business areas in their assessment of the Modern Slavery risk implications of their business activities, new vendors, new contracts and new business. Liaise with AGL’s procurement and legal teams to develop fit for purpose vendor risk assessment and engagement solutions. Draft AGL’s annual Modern Slavery Statement in accordance with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act (Cth), and manage internal processes for the Statement to be approved by the Board. Design and deliver awareness and educational opportunities to the business and its stakeholders, including key AGL suppliers, to support compliance with AGL’s Human Rights Policy and Modern Slavery requirements, and to ensure the business understands where and how it can continually improve the management of its human rights-related risks. Material Compliance Obligations – Privacy Support the Group Compliance and Privacy Officer and the Senior Manager Privacy to implement and continuously improve AGL’s Privacy Policy and Privacy Compliance Program. Assessment of business change for Privacy impact, and identification of required controls. Development of training and guidance materials relevant to Privacy compliance for AGL People. Conducting monitoring activities to ensure that AGL’s Privacy Compliance Program is implemented consistently across the business. Provision of advice to business stakeholders in relation to the management of privacy-related risks and incidents. Provision of support / advice to AGL’s technology teams in enhancing AGL’s Data and Information Governance Frameworks. Developing and implementing appropriate incident management and escalation protocols and procedures, including in relation to data breach notification obligations. Supporting notifiable data breach management, including reporting prepared for submission to the regulator(s) in relevant time periods, and the identification and implementation of appropriate corrective actions. Drafting papers for Board / Audit & Risk Management Committees as required. Compliance Management As part of the Group Compliance team, proactively work to embed the principles, requirements and objectives of AGL’s Compliance Frameworks within all business areas in order to drive capability and maturity uplift in first line compliance practices. Work collaboratively with all operational business units to develop, mature and continually improve compliance reporting systems and processes. Provide practical and pragmatic advice to the business to improve maturity of compliance, governance and culture. Work with first line compliance resources to enable information sharing and a proactive compliance culture of openness and continual improvement. Work on and in some instances lead enterprise-wide compliance projects to assist operational business units uplift compliance systems and processes. Compliance Reporting Support the GRCI team in the delivery of relevant compliance-related reporting to risk committees, and executive management as and when required. Co-ordinate inputs for Audit & Risk Management Committee reports, including liaising with stakeholders across the business to ensure timely and accurate information. Support the Senior Manager and the Group Compliance & Privacy Officer with any additional reporting as required. Support the GRCI team in the follow up of material operational matters as requested. Proactively identify opportunities for improving reporting formats and delivery of content. Development of Systems, Tools, Training & Communication Methods Develop and implement communication strategies to support the enterprise in uplifting capability and to ensure the consistent delivery of minimum compliance requirements. Provide educational tools and guides to enable and support the business to deliver continual improvement to its compliance programs. Develop a flexible, simple and consistent toolset that enables the business to deliver compliance outputs in a format that meets the needs of internal and external stakeholders. What You’ll Bring Law or commerce degree, or degree or other qualification in risk and / or compliance management (desirable). 7 or more years in an equivalent business / professional role. Proven experience as a compliance manager (or similar role) at an ASX company, and strong knowledge of compliance management. Knowledge of the energy industry, key challenges and industry wide risks (desirable, but not necessary). Broad business knowledge and demonstrated ability to understand and communicate the balance between risk reduction and commercial outcomes. Demonstrated experience working with stakeholders at all levels of the business.
