Sentinel are seeking a Management Accountant to work at our locally owned and operated engineering and fabrication company operating in Emerald. We require a highly motivated team player who has experience working as a Management Accountant and has previously assisted a business to manage their accounts department. You will be a part of a small management team, which has a high level of operational experience and autonomy.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Reckon and JAQ software to support budgeting, forecasting, and internal financial analysis.
· Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes to ensure efficient cash flow management, timely collections and payments, and alignment with financial plans.
· Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and variance analysis, to monitor financial performance and provide insights to support senior management with financial decision-making.
· Contribute to the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts, collaborating with operational teams to align financial targets with business strategies.
· Reconcile bank statements and financial records as part of financial control processes, identifying variances and initiating corrective actions where required.
· Analyse payroll data, including labour costs, entitlements, and provisions, to support cost centre reporting and internal management decisions.
· Identify and report on cost trends and contribute to the implementation of cost control measures to support operational efficiency and profitability.
· Conduct regular reconciliations of bank and financial accounts, investigating variances to support internal financial controls and provide reliable data for forecasting and decision-making.
· Prepare and present internal financial and management reports, including variance analyses and trend forecasts, to support performance evaluation and inform strategic decision-making.
· Present financial findings, trends, and performance updates to senior management to inform strategic planning and decision-making.
Skills and Qualifications
Experience in the above responsibilities.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role preferred.
Degree qualifications in accounting or related field, or currently studying (not essential)
Strong ability to interpret and apply financial data to support strategic decision-making and cost control initiatives.
Experienced MS Excel, Word and Outlook
A high level of initiative, organisation, and time management skills
Ability to take direction and receptive to learning new processes.
