About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Machinery Supervisor to lead their equipment operations and maintenance team. This pivotal role requires a professional with comprehensive knowledge of agricultural and processing machinery, combined with strong leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in equipment management, preventive maintenance systems, and team coordination, ensuring optimal performance and reliability across our client's diverse machinery fleet in a dynamic FMCG environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Machinery Maintenance & Performance Management
• Implement and oversee comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for all machinery and equipment, including agricultural implements, processing machines, and transport vehicles
• Perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on diverse equipment, demonstrating advanced technical skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Conduct regular equipment performance assessments and condition monitoring, identifying potential issues before they impact operational efficiency
• Develop and maintain detailed maintenance records, service histories, and equipment performance data to support continuous improvement initiatives

Team Leadership & Operational Supervision
• Supervise and coordinate teams of machine operators and maintenance staff, providing clear direction, technical guidance, and performance feedback
• Prepare and manage detailed work schedules, ensuring optimal allocation of personnel and equipment resources to meet production targets
• Train and mentor equipment operators on proper machine operation techniques, safety protocols, and basic maintenance procedures
• Monitor team performance and implement development plans to enhance skills, productivity, and safety awareness across the machinery operations team

Operational Efficiency & Quality Control
• Oversee daily machinery operations across multiple sites, ensuring all equipment is operated correctly, safely, and in accordance with manufacturer specifications
• Monitor and analyze production records, equipment utilization reports, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements
• Implement and enforce strict quality control standards for all machinery operations, ensuring consistent performance and minimal downtime
• Coordinate with production managers to align equipment availability with operational requirements and production schedules

Strategic Planning & Process Improvement
• Develop and implement equipment replacement and upgrade strategies, providing technical input for capital investment decisions
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators for machinery operations, driving continuous improvement in equipment reliability and efficiency
• Coordinate with external suppliers and service providers for specialized repairs, parts procurement, and technical support when required
• Implement and maintain comprehensive documentation systems for equipment procedures, safety protocols, and operational guidelines

Essential Qualifications & Experience
• AQF Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or equivalent qualification
• Proven post-qualification experience in a machinery supervision or maintenance management role within FMCG, agricultural, or industrial settings
• Demonstrated experience in managing equipment fleets and leading maintenance teams in a production environment
