The Role ALS Environmental Smithfield is seeking multiple Casual Laboratory Technicians in the Organic Prep Department with preparing, weighing and processing our water and soil samples. As a Laboratory Technician you will become a part of a team that strives to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time and by maintaining strong relationships with their colleagues and clients. Shift hours can fall Monday to Friday between 6am to 5:15PM. We’re ideally seeking ASAP start and availability to work throughout the Christmas – New Year time frame and ongoing. The Day-to-Day Responsibilities Include: Preparation and analysis of Water and Soil samples No prior experience in a laboratory setting necessary Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour The Essentials The successful candidate will possess the following skills and abilities: A genuine interest in the Science industry Either TAFE or University qualifications desirable but not essential A desire to work in a high-throughput, client-focused environment, with preference given to those with previous commercial laboratory experience Excellent attention to detail, organisational and time management skills Dedication to good laboratory practices with regard to quality of results and health and safety Flexibility to work varied shifts to cover operational hours Willingness to be cross trained in other sections of the laboratory Working at ALS The ALS team is a diverse and dedicated community united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
