The opportunity
Join a growing public-practice team and build deep, hands-on tax experience with SMEs, international enterprises and HNW clients. You’ll produce high-quality workpapers, stay current with ATO updates and learn directly from senior accountants in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities
• Prepare/assist with income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships (including schedules and workpapers).
• Prepare and lodge BAS/IAS; assist with GST, PAYG(W)/PAYGI, STP finalisation and superannuation compliance.
• Support FBT returns, CGT worksheets and depreciation schedules; assist with basic tax calculations.
• Perform bank/GL reconciliations, year-end journals and trial balance adjustments to firm quality standards.
• Conduct basic tax research (ATO rulings/legislative updates), draft short notes and contribute to tax planning tasks under supervision.
• Liaise with clients to gather source documents; maintain accurate records; assist with routine ATO correspondence and portal tasks.
• Maintain orderly files in the practice management system; follow internal quality control procedures.
Requirements (Must-have)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an Australian university.
• Minimum 1 year experience in an Australian accounting firm/public practice.
• Excellent written and verbal English; multilingual skills highly regarded.
• Strong attention to detail, time management and teamwork.
• Proficient in MS Office; exposure to Xero / MYOB / QuickBooks and ATO Online Services preferred.
