The U.S. Mission serves as the representative of the United States Government at the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Our primary objective is to advance the President’s priorities and his vision of promoting human rights, tolerance, and education worldwide. Our staff collaborates closely with fellow Permanent Delegations and the UNESCO Secretariat to drive key policy initiatives. These initiatives encompass crucial areas such as freedom of expression, education for girls and women, and leveraging science for development. In addition, we actively facilitate public-private partnerships and provide support to various entities, including U.S. Goodwill Ambassadors, UNESCO Chairs, Creative Cities, World Heritage Sites, and Biosphere Reserves.
