About the opportunity This is a unique opportunity for a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist to work in a the Departmen of Perinatal Medicine, managing complex Obstetric Medicine and fetal conditions, including pre-pregnancy counselling, pregnancy management and postnatal follow up. These are is multidisciplinary clinics, including a Consultant Physician, Consultant Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist, MFM and physician fellows, genetic counsellors, Medical Geneticists, Perinatal Midwive and administration support. The specialist will participate in the outpatient management of pregnant patients with complex medical conditions, including assessing the patient’s pre-pregnancy condition to optimise their conditions prior pregnancy as well as formulating a pre-pregnancy plan and then managing for the patient once pregnant. The clinician will be assigned to the Perinatal Unit and operate within the department of Perinatal Medicine. The clinician has a responsibility to be available to discuss and review complex clinical problems within the Unit, participate in and encourage a process of continuing education and clinical review within the Unit. The clinician will participate in the development, as required, of protocols for patient care within the Unit and participate in the ongoing clinical education of Junior Medical Staff and Medical Students. The clinician will also participate in the MFM on call roster. The clinician will also participate in or initiate clinical research within the Unit.
