Job description:

-Work closely with other maintenance team members, wagon operators, and logistics personnel to coordinate maintenance schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure seamless operation of the wagon fleet.

-Communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders to relay important information.

-Work collaboratively with other maintenance team members.

-Provide support in managing operational change related to rail maintenance activities, ensuring that new hydraulic technologies, safety
protocols, and procedures are effectively integrated.

-Carry out all assigned duties in accordance with company policies, rail safety legislation, and engineering standards, under the direction of the National Manager Maintenance.

-Perform technical monitoring and evaluation of the wagon fleet, with a focus on hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, ensuring optimal reliability, safety, and performance.

-Assist in the development of engineering specifications for hydraulic components, control systems, and equipment procurement.

-Maintain above-floor wagon repairs, ensuring hydraulic systems are serviced in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules and compliance requirements.

-Conduct diagnostic testing, fault analysis, and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring repairs meet manufacturer and regulatory standards.

-Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes, incorporating feedback and industry best practices to enhance hydraulic system performance and reliability.

-Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on wagons to ensure they meet regulatory standards and are in optimal working condition. This includes identifying and resolving mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance tasks, and addressing any damages promptly.

-Operate Danobat DHD Under Floor Wheel Lathe.

-Measure wheelsets, interpret wheel sheets to assess wheel condition pre machining

-Calibrate Under Floor Wheel Lathe to determine type of machine cut required for wheel sets.

-Interpret wheel report post machining of wheel sets on Under Floor Wheel Lathe

-Understanding of Locomotive bogie assembly required for clamping/unclamping method required for individual locomotive.

-Troubleshoot faults displayed on Under Floor Wheel Lathe.

-Replace cutting bits as required.

-Calibrate measurement probes.

-Operate Shunt Crab to reposition locomotive to correct location on Under Floor Wheel Lathe

-Other maintenance activities as required.

-Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance activities.

-Conduct thorough safety checks on wagons to identify potential hazards and take appropriate measures to mitigate risks.

-Ensure that all maintenance procedures are conducted in accordance with company policies and industry standards.

-Follow Isolation and Lockout procedure.

-Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including inspection reports, repair logs, and parts inventory.

-Document any maintenance performed, parts replaced, and repairs conducted for compliance and reporting purposes.

Qualifications/Attributes:

-Must hold a Diploma of Engineering, or at least 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of the qualification

-Must possess at least 1 year of relevant work experience

-Strong verbal and written communication skills.

-In-depth knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with the ability to apply engineering principles to testing, monitoring, and
maintenance activities.

-Competence in interpreting and applying engineering drawings, CAD outputs, and technical manuals for hydraulic and control systems.

-Strong understanding of preventive maintenance principles and ability to develop and implement structured maintenance programs.

-Proficiency in preparing technical specifications, procurement documents, and engineering reports to support fleet maintenance and equipment acquisition.

Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000 p.a. excluding superannuation.
