Job Title: Human Resources Employee Relations Manager

Status: Full Time

Classification: Exempt

Location: Remote/Santa Rosa, CA/Sacramento, CA

Salary Range: $75,000 to $90,000

The Human Resources (HR) Employee Relations Manager reports to the Human Resources (HR) Director. This is a non-supervisory role. The HR Employee Relations Manager will carry out the routine and administrative functions of the HR department for the organization. This position will also assist in the development of personnel policies and procedures which demonstrate the organization’s commitment to continual improvement of employee engagement and culture as they relate to the Nation’s Finest mission and core values. 

Job Duties:

  1. Manage all aspects related to employee relations including but not limited to: incident intake, assisting supervisors with employee disciplinary/corrective actions, employee grievances, leave request and compliance, etc. 
  2. Ensuring proper maintenance of employee records and organization’s shared drive for documents 
  3. Management of the company recruiting platform through the Paylocity HRIS, including posting new jobs, setting position parameters, training managers on use of the recruiting system, maintaining candidate profiles, and closing/pausing jobs when appropriate.
  4. At the direction of the HR Director, implement human resources strategies through department accountabilities for (not limited to) talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, training and development, remote performance and accountability, employee retention, inclusivity and diversity compliance.
  5. Manage the organization’s performance measuring platform through the Paylocity HRIS.
  6. Management of the employee onboarding process through internal HRIS. 
  7. Update and maintain the maintenance of personnel records within the HRIS, including updating personnel records as annual requirements are submitted, tracking employee submissions for state and federal compliance, and ensuring all new staff members complete all required onboarding documents within the established time period.
  8. Perform the function of background checks for all new staff members and volunteers. Communicate felony convictions to the HR Director for final determination of employment or volunteer eligibility. Submit monthly background check invoices to A/P.
  9. Manage the tracking of employee leaves of absence, performing necessary follow-up with managers and team members, and ensuring all required documentation has been submitted in a timely manner.
  10. Assist in the development and implementation of new or updated personnel policies and procedures. Helps ensure multi-state and federal labor compliance. 
  11. Manage workers’ compensation claims and OSHA log. Review WVPP and IIPP every quarter with sites. Present data to HR Director.
  12. Track completion of annual employee engagement surveys and assist in the preparation of presentations for the Performance Improvement Committee.
  13. Manage the internal Learning Management System (LMS) ensuring all new staff are added into the system, departing staff are removed from the system, assisting learners in troubleshooting the platform, and providing monthly reports on trainer status at various locations.
  14. Provides monthly HR reporting on turnover, hiring/position changes, onboarding expenses, and staff roster changes to the HR Director.
  15. Provide annual reports on government required reports for EEO-1 and others.
  16. Assist with benefit administration, including annual employee benefit bidding and negotiating. Assists with the open enrollment process for all employees.
  17. Coordinate personnel status changes with the HR Director and Chief Programs Officer; assist in managing annual COLA increases, bonuses, holiday pay, hiring bonuses, and retention incentives as needed. 
  18. Work with HR Director to help create a systematic reporting structure to help with oversight and compliance.
  19. Other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in related field required

HR Certification from SHRM or PHR preferred

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience as an HR Generalist for an organization with more than 150 employees, or at least 2+ years’ experience in an exempt-level Human Resources role with an organization with more than 50 employees. 
  • 3+ years’ experience managing an HRIS, experience utilizing Paylocity or similar is desirable. 
  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization is desirable.
  • Experience working for a multi-state employer is desirable.

Work Environment:

Remote eligible with up to 5% travel to office or site locations. 

Offering:

$75,000 to $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience and geographic location.
