About the Role

We are seeking 80 reliable and hardworking Horticulture Workers to support seasonal operations on a mango and citrus farm in Mareeba, QLD.

Employment will cover multiple harvest periods:

Citrus season and Mango season

Workers may be engaged for up to 9 months, subject to seasonal demand and operational requirements.

Key Duties

Harvesting mangoes and citrus fruit by hand

Picking, cutting and placing fruit into bins

Sorting and grading produce

Packing and handling fruit

General orchard maintenance and cleaning

Complying with all workplace health and safety requirements

3.3.6 – HOURS OF WORK, PAY & CONDITIONS
Hours of Work

Employment is on a casual basis.

Ordinary hours: Up to 38 hours per week

Roster: Monday to Sunday

Start times: Typically between 5:00am and 7:00am

Finish times: Subject to weather, crop conditions and operational requirements

Example Weekly Structure (38 Hours)

Ordinary hours may be structured as:

5-Day Structure

7.6 hours per day × 5 days = 38 hours

OR

6-Day Structure (Peak Periods)

6–7.5 hours per day across 5–6 days

Total ordinary hours capped at 38 per week

Hours may vary due to seasonal and operational demands. Workers will be advised of rosters in advance.

Overtime and Penalties

Hours worked in excess of 38 per week will be paid at overtime rates in accordance with the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028).

Weekend and public holiday work will be paid in accordance with applicable Award penalty rates.

Pay & Conditions

Employment conditions are governed by the Horticulture Award 2020 (MA000028).

Mango Season (Hourly Rate)

Workers will be paid an hourly rate plus 25% casual loading in accordance with the applicable Award classification.

Citrus Season (Piece Rate or Hourly)

Citrus harvesting may be paid on a piece rate basis where applicable.

Where piece rates apply:

The piece rate will be set in accordance with the Award.

A competent worker must be able to earn at least the minimum hourly rate.

All payments will comply with Fair Work requirements.

Other entitlements include:

Superannuation contributions

Weekly payslips

No unlawful deductions

Work Environment

This role involves:

Outdoor work in hot and humid conditions

Repetitive bending, lifting and carrying

Exposure to dust and agricultural machinery

Full induction and safety training will be provided prior to commencement.
