What you'll be doing
The primary responsibility of the Health Promotion Officer is to improve the health and wellbeing of school‑aged children (5–12 years) in Northern Sydney, in alignment with the Northern Sydney Population Health Improvement Plan. The role works collaboratively with primary schools, families and key community stakeholders to plan, deliver and evaluate population‑based health promotion initiatives that encourage healthy eating and physical activity.
A key component of the Health Promotion Officer role is supporting the School Years team to meet key performance indicators associated with the NSW Healthy Children Initiative, with a primary focus on the Live Life Well @ School and Go4Fun programs. This includes building strong partnerships with local stakeholders, contributing to the creation of supportive school environments, enhancing the capacity of educators and families, and implementing evidence‑based strategies that improve the health and wellbeing of children across Northern Sydney.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in health promotion, public health, education, community development, health sciences, sociology or other related discipline.
- Proven project management capabilities including planning, implementation and evaluation of health promotion initiatives at a population level.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships across diverse sectors and communities.
- Highly developed communication skills, including digital literacy, interpersonal, written and verbal abilities with demonstrated competence in negotiation, presentation delivery and report.
- Current NSW driver's License.
