About the role

We're on the hunt for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to lead the kitchen at the 40-50 seat café and bistro in a renowned suburb of Sydney's Inner West. This is a unique opportunity for someone seeking full ownership and autonomy in the kitchen. If you love creating simple, fresh, and innovative dishes with high quality ingredients in the French tradition with a twist, this is the role for you!

Responsibilities

Design and execute menus that reflect the signature French bistro style with a twist.

Lead kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and high-quality standards.

Oversee stock control, food costs, and supplier relationships to maintain profitability.

Manage and mentor a small team, fostering a positive and professional work environment.

Ensure compliance with food safety and health regulations.

Work closely with the manager, and front-of-house team to deliver a seamless dining experience.

About you

3-5 years of experience in a Head Chef or senior kitchen role.

French or European culinary techniques - no Michelin stars required, just great food!

Professional attitude with a hands-on approach.

Organised, clean, and efficient, able to thrive in a small kitchen.

Business-minded, with an understanding of food and labour costs.

Long tenure in past roles - this is for someone committed to the industry.

A team player who values autonomy, trust, and results-driven leadership.
