The Role
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Hardware Technician to join our Melbourne team. This role is responsible for the setup, maintenance, testing, and repair of IT hardware, ensuring all equipment meets quality and performance standards prior to deployment.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals, along with a strong technical aptitude and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, configuration, and testing of desktops, laptops, monitors, and peripheral devices.
- Diagnose and repair hardware faults including component replacements, upgrades, and reimaging.
- Assemble, disassemble, and troubleshoot IT equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Conduct quality assurance checks prior to deployment.
- Manage hardware imaging and software installations using standard deployment tools.
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, repairs, and warranty claims.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics team to prepare hardware for shipment and deployment.
- Support the IT Support and Field Services teams with technical hardware-related tasks.
- Ensure all work complies with AXIOM’s security, quality, and safety standards.
- Provide input to continuous improvement of hardware processes and documentation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of hands-on experience as a Hardware Technician, IT Support Technician, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware, components, and peripherals.
- Experience with system imaging, deployment, and configuration tools (e.g., SCCM, MDT).
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 environments.
- Good understanding of hardware troubleshooting techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and time management skills.
- Ability to lift and handle IT equipment safely (within reasonable limits).
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft, or OEM-specific) desirable.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
