Job Summary This role will primarily be responsible for supporting the finance team with daily accounting tasks, managing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, HFM forms and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Duties and Responsibilities Financial Operations Make sure all assigned tasks are completed correctly and on time Complete journal entries that are generally deemed as less complex as per the assignment Prepare designated HFM forms Complete balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline according to given assignments Prepare the monthly PEXA fee billing schedule. Perform other Financial Operations duties as assigned Teamwork and Collaboration Maintain strong professional relationships with the senior financial accountants of the team Foster a collaborative environment with other team members including the Accounts Receivable Officer and Accounts Payable Officer Actively participate in team meetings, contributing insights and suggestions to improve processes or outcomes Role model a culture of high performance Provide support and financial information to other internal departments as needed Process Improvement Identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks Collaborate with other departments to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness Participate in continuous improvement initiatives Provide suggestions for automation and improved data accuracy Monitor the effectiveness of implemented improvements and make adjustments as necessary Compliance Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external audits Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and standards Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance team to address any identified compliance issues Participate in the development and maintenance of internal compliance manuals and guidelines Other Ad-hoc tasks including but not limited to assisting the Financial Controller as needed Essential Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting Good communication skills, both written and verbal A proactive and positive 'can-do' attitude Desirable Criteria: Any prior work experience which may include internships, volunteer work, or casual employment Extracurricular activities that demonstrate time management skills, problem-solving, and teamwork What We Offer By choice, we don’t simply accept individuality – we embrace it, we support it, and we thrive on it!
