About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter (General) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and production machinery. You will play a key part in ensuring efficient machine performance and minimizing downtime within our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities
• Assess and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance manuals.
• Assemble, fit, and align machine parts, mechanical assemblies, and sub-systems to precise specifications.
• Install, test, and commission new and overhauled production equipment, ensuring proper operation and safety compliance.
• Maintain and service plastic extrusion and blow molding machines, including mold fitting, changeovers, and setup adjustments.
• Diagnose, dismantle, and repair faulty mechanical systems, restoring equipment to safe and reliable operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance such as lubrication, calibration, roller alignment, and inspection of moving parts.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair components using machining, welding, grinding, and other workshop techniques.
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, gauges, calipers) to verify tolerances and quality standards.
• Monitor process parameters (temperature, speed, tension, pressure) and adjust as required to maintain consistent product quality.
• Assist with tooling and equipment setups for printing, slitting, and finishing processes.
• Collaborate with operators and supervisors to identify process improvements and reduce waste or scrap.
• Keep accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with WHS procedures and company policies.

Qualifications & Experience
• Certificate IV in Engineering in Mechanical Trade or relevant equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical fitting, machine maintenance, and repair within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and maintenance manuals.
• Sound knowledge of WHS practices and safe work procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.

Skills Required
• Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• Experience with plastics machinery (extrusion, blow molding, injection molding) is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of plastic resins, material handling, and recycling/regrind processes.
• Skilled in troubleshooting both mechanical and process-related issues.
• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently when required.
• Good communication, attention to detail, and commitment to safe work practices.
