Job Title: Tandoori Cook
Business: India Tonight, 4/26 James St, Yeppoon, QLD, 4703
Salary: $77,000 - $83,000 + super of 12%
Position Type: Full-time, minimum 38 hours per week
Reports to: Head Chef / Director

Position Purpose
The Tandoori Cook is responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of authentic tandoori dishes in our high-volume restaurant. This role is essential for delivering the authentic flavours and quality that define our establishment, ensuring that all food meets the highest standards of taste, presentation, and safety.

Role and Responsibilities
? Prepare and cook a wide range of tandoori dishes, including meats, breads such as naan and roti, and vegetables in the tandoor oven.
? Marinate meats and vegetables using traditional Indian spices, herbs, and techniques to develop authentic flavour profiles.
? Operate, manage the temperature of, and maintain the tandoor oven and other kitchen equipment.
? Examine all foodstuffs to ensure quality before preparation.
? Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment.
? Season food during cooking according to standardised recipes and taste.
? Portion food, place it on plates, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes for service.
? Store food in temperature-controlled facilities to ensure freshness and safety.
? Prepare food to meet special dietary requirements as requested.
? Ensure the quality and presentation of all dishes meet restaurant standards.
? Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area, especially the tandoor station.
? Adhere to all health, safety, and WHS regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
? Collaborate with kitchen staff to manage food preparation and ensure timely service.
? Assist in training other kitchen staff and apprentices in tandoori techniques as required.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements
? AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and at least two years of relevant experience is required.

Essential Skills
• Good cooking and presentation skills.
• Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and assist with kitchen operation.
• Able to work in a team and lead a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Maintain good health and hygiene.
• Ability to train junior staff.
• Great time management and organisation skills.
