Full Time Motor Mechanic
SALARY $78,000 - $80,000 + SUPERANNUATION
Duties and Responsibilities
Description: Conducts daily prestarts and servicing Heavy and Light Vehicles, which includes inspecting and diagnosing electrical, transmissions, suspension, steering, and brake issues.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Perform preventative pre-start inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Heavy and Light Vehicle fleet during nightly pre-starts.
2. Diagnose mechanical faults, with a strong focus on Cummins and Caterpillar engines, us-ing appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools.
3. Service, repair, and maintain engines, transmissions (including Eaton and Allison), braking systems, and steering components in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
4. Carry out initial inspections, identify faults, conduct necessary repairs, and test vehicles after repairs to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with standards.
5. Repair or replace worn or defective parts, reassemble mechanical components, and refer to service manuals and technical documentation as required.
6. Ensure all preventative maintenance schedules and service intervals for engines and other components are completed within requirements.
7. Accurately complete all required documentation, including timesheets, work orders, pre-start reports, and safety checks (Take 5’s).
8. Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment, ensuring the depot and workshop meet high standards of cleanliness and safety, including mopping floors and detailing vehicles when necessary.
9. Fit and replace tyres as required on fleet vehicles.
10. Assist the Workshop team with parts ordering for both internal and external workshop fleets.
11. Maintain and monitor tool room inventory and ensure tools and equipment are secure and used correctly.
12. Assist other mechanics in the workshop with servicing and repairs when required.
13. Perform washing and detailing of trucks, trailers, and light vehicles when needed.
14. Attend field service breakdowns and deliver parts or vehicles as necessary.
15. Complete Afternoon Daily Routines in the workshop to ensure all systems and tools are organised and operational.
Other Requirements:
o Must be available on on-call weekends and callouts
o Must have or willing to obtain a National Criminal History Clearance
REQUIRED SKILLS
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or higher
2 Years’ Experience Post Qualification
Uniforms and tools not supplied.
