Full Time Landscape Architect

NewScape Design Pty Ltd is a respected and award-winning landscape architecture practice known for delivering sensitive, innovative and site-responsive design solutions. Our studio specialises in natural-area design, parks and open-space networks, walking tracks, lookouts, visitor precincts and public landscapes.

Duties & Responsibilities
o Undertake comprehensive site analysis including topography, soils, hydrology, climate conditions, vegetation, visual character, ecological values and existing built features to inform design direction, land-use recommendations and environmental considerations.
o Prepare concept designs, schematic layouts and refined masterplans under the supervision of senior staff, that respond to site opportunities, constraints, cultural values and project briefs across public open space, natural-area design, parks, walking tracks and private development projects.
o Develop detailed landscape plans, technical drawings, construction details, planting plans and schedules, integrating structural, civil, drainage, accessibility and environmental requirements into final landscape designs.
o Produce complete design documentation packages for DA, CC, tender and construction stages using Vectorworks, QGIS and Adobe Creative Suite, ensuring accuracy, clarity and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
o Prepare specifications, cost estimates and written documentation to accompany design drawings, including materials, finishes, construction methods and performance requirements.
o Coordinate collaboratively with architects, civil and structural engineers, planners, ecologists and contractors to ensure all landscape works integrate effectively with broader project contexts and technical constraints.
o Develop 3D models, digital visualisations, photomontages and presentation materials to effectively communicate design intent to clients, stakeholders and approval authorities.
o Prepare reports, site assessments, environmental and visual impact material, and support planning approvals where required.
o Contribute to the development of high-quality, context-sensitive and environmentally responsible landscape design solutions, consistent with NewScape Design’s values and project philosophy.
• Projects will be managed by senior members of the team and the applicant may attend/participate in the following with the project manager:
o Client meetings, site visits, design workshops, stakeholder consultations and internal review sessions, taking meeting minutes to record feedback and design refinements into updated plans and documentation.
o Construction-phase services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, conducting site inspections, assessing landscape installation quality, and ensuring works comply with approved plans, specifications and design intent.

Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture and at least 1-year relevant work experience.
