Job Type: Permanent Full-Time
Salary: $76,515 – $80,000 per annum (award rates or above, depending on experience and qualifications)
Work Hours: 38 hours per week, including weekends and public holidays as rostered.
About the Role
Tasty Punjab is seeking a passionate and experienced Chef specialising in Indian cuisine to join our kitchen team in Rockhampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering authentic Indian meals while maintaining high kitchen standards and workflow efficiency.
As a chef, you will contribute to our high-quality food offerings, ensure consistent food safety standards, and work alongside our head chef and team to uphold our restaurant's reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook traditional and modern Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, and Indian snacks.
Ensure all food is prepared according to recipe specifications and hygiene standards.
Supervise and coordinate kitchen operations during service.
Assist in creating new menu items and improving existing recipes.
Monitor stock levels and ensure proper inventory control.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff.
Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and ensure all food safety practices are followed.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
Minimum 2 years of full-time experience as a Chef, ideally in an Indian restaurant setting.
Extensive knowledge of Indian cooking techniques and ingredients.
Strong leadership and time-management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy kitchen environment.
Preferred:
Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
Experience working in regional or rural kitchens.
