Position: Chef
Full time occupation
Proposed salary: $76,800 plus superannuation
Work location: 76 Michael St, Fitzroy North VIC 3068

Responsibilities:
• Manage stock control, ordering food from suppliers weekly and ensuring there is enough stock to meet service demands in the café.
• Oversee daily kitchen operations, including organizing the preparation schedule and rostering staff to ensure smooth workflow.
• Supervise and train kitchen staff, explaining and demonstrating service procedures, cooking techniques, and hygiene practices to ensure high performance.
• Plan and create the menu, regarding the café’s Western cuisine. Adjusting dishes to meet seasonal availability, customer preferences including allergies and quality standards but not limited to.
• Maintain food quality by discussing any issues with kitchen staff, troubleshooting, and ensuring consistency across all dishes including the selection of special design plates to meet quality, visual standards and presentation.
• Handle food preparation tasks, including cutting, chopping, cooking, and portioning ingredients for daily service.
• Prepare sauces, relishes, pastry fillings, and other essential components in line with menu requirements, ensuring consistent quality.
• Monitor kitchen hygiene and food safety, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Required Skills:
• Relevant Qualification in Commercial Cookery, Diploma or above is preferred
• At least 2 years of experience as a Chef
• Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating delicious, high-quality meals
• Excellent knowledge of food preparation, presentation and kitchen management
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to food safety and hygiene
