Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Fitter-Welder on behalf of our client, Hillcroft Farms Pty Ltd, a leading mixed farming business located in Lol Gray, WA. This permanent full-time role is responsible for the fabrication, welding, assembly, maintenance, and repair of agricultural machinery and infrastructure across cropping, piggery, and livestock operations.

About the Role
The Fitter-Welder plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational reliability of farm equipment and infrastructure, including feed systems, heavy machinery, livestock facilities, irrigation equipment, and general plant.
This position is suited to someone who is experienced in both precision mechanical fitting and various welding techniques and is comfortable working in a rural agricultural setting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
In alignment with ANZSCO Code 323213 – Fitter-Welder, responsibilities will include:
• Inspecting, diagnosing, assembling, and fitting mechanical components for farm machinery and fixed plant
• Performing MIG, TIG, arc, and oxy-acetylene welding on machinery, frames, fences, trailers, and structural components
• Fabricating and modifying parts and components using lathes, grinders, and hand tools to support operational demands
• Carrying out preventative maintenance and urgent repairs on harvesters, tractors, feed mixers, trailers, grain augers, and water systems
• Interpreting blueprints, technical diagrams, and manufacturer manuals to ensure correct specifications
• Installing and maintaining piggery equipment including feeders, crates, penning systems, and ventilation components
• Repairing and fabricating steel and metal structures including gates, cattle yards, and sheds
• Maintaining a safe and organised on-site workshop environment, compliant with WHS regulations
• Recording maintenance work completed and assisting with procurement of parts and materials
• Assisting with seasonal equipment setup and breakdown during sowing and harvest periods

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following:
• Hold an AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Welding) or equivalent; OR
• Have at least 3 years of full-time relevant experience as a Fitter-Welder, preferably in an agricultural or industrial environment
Required Skills and Attributes:
• Proficiency in mechanical fitting and multiple welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc, gas)
• Competence in using fabrication tools including grinders, drills, presses, and cutting equipment
• Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints
• Ability to carry out on-site and workshop-based repairs efficiently
• Strong fault-finding skills and ability to work autonomously
• High attention to detail with a safety-first attitude
• Manual driver’s licence required; HR or machinery tickets are advantageous
