The Role
We are seeking an experienced Fitter and Turner to join our team in Boggabri, NSW on a permanent full-time basis. The role is responsible for minimising unplanned downtimes for our cotton ginnery plant and machinery. The critical position ensures the completion of maintenance tasks to achieve bale output targets to the highest standard of quality and safety. Your responsibilities include:
• Carry out all maintenance tasks as per company scheduling and direction from management;
• Respond to breakdowns and carry out fault finding, diagnostics, repairs and overhauls on ginning machinery to ensure production downtimes is kept at a minimum;
• Replace worn and defective parts and components and reassembling machinery;
• Manufacture metal parts and sub-assemblies needed for repairs;
• Fit fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments;
• Regularly inspect machinery and detect problems before they become an issue;
• Monitor and ensure safe and efficient operations at all time;
• Mentor and coach trainees;
• Ensure all SHE daily, weekly and monthly checks and reporting are complete
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate has previous experience in a similar role and is equipped with a trade background or proven skills in mechanical engineering. You'll have a mature and proactive approach to your duties and be able to work well with all members of the team. With excellent people management and problem-solving skills, it is important you can prove the following:
• Cert III Qualifications or equivalent;
• Three years or more years relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of qualifications;
• Demonstrated experience in maintenance/production environments;
• Team player attitude with high attention to detail;
• Willingness and ability to pass a Pre-employment Medical and Drug + Alcohol testing.
