Our client, a renowned leader in the automotive repair industry with over three decades of excellence, is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Fitter to join their dynamic team. Renowned for their commitment to precision and restoring vehicles to their pre-accident condition, they operate from a state-of-the-art facility. If you have a passion for automotive craftsmanship and a keen eye for detail, this is your opportunity to contribute to a business that sets the industry standard.

About the Role:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the hands-on structural and panel fitting that forms the foundation of every vehicle restoration. You will work on a variety of vehicles, utilising advanced equipment and techniques to ensure every repair meets rigorous safety and quality standards. This position is perfect for a technician who takes pride in their work and understands that a perfect fit is the first step to a flawless finish.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Vehicle Structure & Frame Analysis:
• Conduct comprehensive inspections of vehicle collision damage to assess structural integrity and identify misalignments in frames, unibody structures, and suspension mounting points.
• Utilise advanced frame straightening equipment and hydraulic systems to meticulously pull and correct structural damage back to the manufacturer’s original specifications.
• Diagnose and perform precise repairs on a vehicle's underlying structure, ensuring its safety and performance are fully restored.

Precision Panel Fitting & Alignment:
• Expertly install, align, and fit a wide range of metal panels, frames, and subassemblies—including doors, fenders, quarter panels, and bumpers—to achieve perfect contours and structural integrity.
• Meticulously adjust all replacement parts to ensure consistent, manufacturer-specified gaps and flushness across the entire vehicle body.
• Modify or custom-fabricate replacement body panels through skilled cutting, grinding, bending, and welding of sheet metal to perfectly match the vehicle's original contours.

Technical Interpretation & Mechanical Fitting:
• Interpret complex technical specifications, detailed vehicle blueprints, and comprehensive collision repair guides to determine the correct materials, tools, and sequences for each unique repair task.
• Perform the fitting and installation of mechanical components such as exhaust systems, fuel lines, and associated brackets, ensuring all parts are securely mounted and functionally sound.

Quality Control & Surface Preparation:
• Employ precision measuring instruments including callipers, micrometres, and specialised alignment tools to verify the accuracy of gaps, contours, and dimensions on all repaired or replaced body parts.
• Prepare vehicle surfaces for refinishing by undertaking skilled sanding, application of body fillers, and priming to create a perfectly smooth substrate, ready for painting.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
• Configure and operate a range of specialised workshop machinery, including MIG/MAG welding equipment, frame straighteners, and pneumatic/hydraulic tools, tailoring their settings for specific repair applications.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
• A proven track record as a Vehicle Fitter, Panel Beater, or in a similar role within the automotive repair industry.
• Formal qualifications in Automotive Body Repair, Metal Fabrication, or a related trade are highly regarded.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and repair procedures.
• Demonstrated, hands-on experience with welding, metal fabrication, and the use of precision measuring tools.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and a meticulous approach to every task, with an unwavering commitment to quality.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment.
• A strong commitment to adhering to all workplace health and safety guidelines.
