We are seeking a motivated First Nations Conservation Trainee to join our Natural Areas team. This traineeship offers a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on environmental experience while completing a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
You will work alongside experienced conservation professionals to develop practical skills in land management, conservation practices, and environmental stewardship while contributing to the protection of our natural landscapes.

Location: City of Melville Operations Centre
Salary: $61,428.55 p.a. + 12% Super
Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until July 2028
What You’ll Be Doing
- Undertake structured training toward a Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
- Assist with natural area maintenance including planting, seed collection, propagation, weed control and litter removal
- Participate in manual, mechanical and chemical weed control activities
- Learn to safely operate and maintain machinery such as chainsaws and brushcutters
- Support bushfire mitigation and control works
- Develop skills in identifying native flora
- Use and maintain conservation tools and equipment correctly
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and under supervision

- Interest in working outdoors and contributing to land management projects
Essential Requirements
- OLNA or NAPLAN Band 8, Year 10 English and Maths C grades (or equivalent Certificate I/II qualification)
- Ability and commitment to complete Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Desirable Requirements
- Current driver’s licence
- Construction White Card
