About

Assist Fish performance Manager and regions with day-to-day husbandry of Salmon. Work closely with our Hobart based Control Room to undertake all routine maintenance on feed equipment.

Key accountabilities

- As a skipper or crew member, you are responsible for maintaining the vessel and you action while aboard.
- Ensure marine sites and shore bases are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and well organised.
- Monitor and maintain feed spreads, ensuring cameras and winches are in good working order.
- Monitor fish hunger and report any changes to behaviour and or predator behaviour, forward these details to relevant stakeholders such as - - Control Room, Fish Performance Managers and Wildlife Team.
- Repair and maintain feed related equipment.
- Assist the feed delivery team in the transfer of feed, to feed barges, and reporting on any feed barge maintenance to Fish Performance Managers.
- Maintain documentation including feed equipment audits and tracking feed related equipment their current location and historic movements of each asset.
- Review and ensure feed barge maintenance requests are actioned in a quick and efficient manner.
- Assist with all equipment installation and pen mooring maintenance as required.
- Maintain a high level of communication with Control Room and respond to requests in a timely manner.
- Monitor and report all predator activity, including seals and/ or birds in nets.
- Ensure the cleaning of the equipment is done correctly and in accordance with biosecurity procedures.

- Any other duties or tasks as reasonably directed by Huon.

- Proven experience working independently with minimal supervision and show initiative.
- Ability to communicate well with your managers, work colleagues and other crews.
- A coxswains ticket is desirable
- A certificate 3 in aquaculture is desirable but not essential.
- An eye for detail with a proactive focus to continually improve processes.
- A genuine commitment to ongoing learning and self-development and proactive focus to continually improve processes.
- A genuine focus on safety and wellbeing and behaviour consistent with Huon’s vision and values.
- Preferred candidates are subject to a pre-employment health assessment

Job Type: Full-time

The annual salary for this role is $76,515 to $85,000 plus superannuation.
