- About you
- We are seeking someone with relevant qualifications and experience in Environmental Health promotion or similar. You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work as part of a collaborative team and organisation who are committed to systems change. You will need to have an understanding &/or experience working with First Nations communities and know the strengths and key issues facing First Nations people - an understanding of the effects of colonisation, disempowerment and intergenerational trauma. A current driver's license and willingness to undergo a National Police Check and obtain an OCHRE Working with Children.
- About the role
- This position will provide services to Central Australia, across five different communities in and around Mparntwe – Alice Springs. The Environmental Health Coordinator will work within a multi-disciplinary team with particular focus on delivering Environmental Health Promotion under the Children’s Ground Family Health and Wellbeing Framework Health in the Hands of the People Utnenge, Tyerrtye, Mwerre Atnyenetyeke Iltye Tyerrtye Urrperle–kenhenge to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for communities. - The Environmental Health Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing two Orange Sky Laundry trucks, the planned schedule of service delivery across various locations in Mparntwe and staff attached to the trucks in community. Environmental health support is also provided through provision of access to cleaning equipment and other items that will support community members to maintain their homes and support security of tenure. Staff training, advocacy and increasing tenant agency are expected outcomes of the position.
- Key Responsibilities
- Work within the Children’s Ground Family Health and Wellbeing Framework Health in the Hands of the People, to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for the communities we work with.
- With the community, develop, assess, and monitor environmental health needs, and manage and implement responses to create improved health and wellbeing outcomes for First Nations people across the region
- Ensure that the Environmental Health team is accessible to all First Nations people in the communities where we work
- Ensure Orange Sky laundry trucks and Environmental Health trailers are deployed Monday to Friday
- Roster and supervise laundry and environmental health trailers with local First Nations people in the community
- Engage with local community and ensure participants have access to information and services that will assist them to maintain their tenancies or address tenancy issues
- Develop environmental health practices, referring to national and international evidence and research
- Participate in regular supervision, team meetings and team planning sessions around Environmental Health and the broader Health team
- Program design, standards and implementation
- With the Family Health and Wellbeing team, support an outreach model to service the region, providing access to all families
- Ensure documentation, policies, procedures, systems and standards are in place with clear compliance to meet the needs of Children's Ground and the security of information for consumers
- Environment health promotion initiatives include, but not limited to Laundry, House Cleans, Yard Cleans
- Information and data systems, monitoring and reporting
- Support staff to document and record data
- Quality and risk management
- Represent Children's Ground in key meetings as required
- Develop and maintain relationships with key partners including local organisations
