Position: ENOTECA MANAGER [WINE RETAIL AND TASTING MANAGER]

Name of the Business: DEVINO WINE AND SALUMI

Annual Salary: $75,000.00 to $80,000.00 plus superannuation

Type: Permanent, Full Time

About Us:

DeVINO Wine and Salumi is a boutique enoteca located in Canberra, combining a wine bar (on premises) a wine store (off premises) and a small deli gourmet retail shop. We specialise in premium Italian wines and authentic food products, including artisanal cheeses, cured meats (salumi), pasta, olive oils, and delicacies. Our customers enjoy not only the opportunity to purchase fine wines and Italian products, but also to experience wine tastings, happy hour gatherings, and curated wine & salumi boards in a relaxed and authentic atmosphere.

The role:

We are seeking an Enoteca Manager to lead the daily operations of our venue, a hybrid role that combines hospitality and retail management skills. The ideal candidate will have at least three years’ experience as a restaurant or retail manager, with a deep knowledge of Italian wines and pairings, organisational and inventory management skills, and proven ability in staff training, communication, and leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

Wine & product curation: selecting premium Italian wines and authentic food products (cheeses, cured meats, pasta, olive oils, specialty delicacies) to offer both for on premises and off premises consumption.

Tasting service: organizing and overseeing wine tastings, food pairings, and happy hour events, creating a convivial environment for guests to experience Italian culture.

Customer engagement & sales: advising customers on wine and food pairings, promoting both retail sales (bottles and food items) and on premises experiences.

Inventory & suppliers management: managing stock of wines and food products, ensuring proper storage, quality, and timely ordering from importers and local producers.

Team leadership: training and supervising staff in both wine service and Italian food traditions, maintaining high hospitality standards.

Marketing & events: promoting the enoteca through themed evenings, seasonal tastings, collaborations and community events.

Compliance: ensuring full adherence to liquor licensing, food safety regulations, and responsible service of alcohol.
