Salary: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per annum + superannuation
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Surf Life Saving Western Australia (SLSWA) is the state’s peak coastal safety and rescue organisation. Saving lives is at the core of what we do, whether it’s through the delivery of essential lifesaving services, running our training and education programs in the community, teaching people lifesaving first aid, or giving our lifesavers the chance to hone their skills on the sand and in the water.
Our safety and rescue services – Surf Life Saving WA saves and protects lives on WA beaches. We achieve this through our dedicated teams of safety and rescue services, including volunteer lifesavers and lifeguards, Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Services and Life Saver Jet Ski Teams.
About you
We are looking for a qualified Emergency Service Worker with a minimum of 2 years aviation experience who possesses a strong work ethic with excellent organisational skills and is reliable.
Key Responsibilities
The potential applicant will have to perform duties that include but not limited to the following:
• Delivery of aerial surveillance and rescue capability aboard the SLSWA Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter,
• Respond in a timely and effective manner to emergency calls, and assesses the situation to ensure the safety of the community,
• Provides information and updates during emergency to the community and stakeholders,
• Communicate effectively with team members to create a positive work environment,
• Contribute to development and implementation of emergency response plans,
• Rescuing and evacuating individuals stranded or trapped in dangerous situations,
• Providing First Aid if required,
• Ongoing participation in training activities,
• Mentoring recruits in emergency procedures and practices, and
• Inspect and maintain on-site emergency response equipment.

Requirements
• Minimum Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or relevant overseas qualification
• Current Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET),
• Current Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CA-EBS) training,
• Minimum 2 years of work experience (Helicopter Search and Rescue Operations),
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and
• Ability to speak English.
