We are posting on behalf of our client Octa for the position of Electrical Engineer.

Position Purpose:

The Electrical Engineer is a central resource that provides electrical engineering expertise to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations, and successful delivery of capital projects across OCTA Group’s industrial portfolio.
The role works across operations, maintenance, reliability, engineering studies, and project execution, with exposure to OCTA’s, thermal (Gas) and renewable (Solar, Wind, BESS) power stations as well as its’ LNG production and customer facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Asset Support:
- Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support to operations and maintenance teams, ensuring equipment performance and reliability.
- Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical equipment failures (HV/LV distribution, motors, VSDs, switchgear, protection systems, UPS/DC systems, and control systems interfaces).
- Review and approve technical documentation, operating procedures, work packs, and maintenance strategies.
- Support asset integrity programs including inspection regimes, obsolescence management, and critical spares strategies.
- Provide engineering input into plant modifications, isolations, shutdown/turnaround scopes, and management of change (MOC) processes.

Project Engineering & Delivery:
- Provide electrical engineering input across project phases: concept, FEED, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out.
- Prepare and review technical scopes of work, specifications, datasheets, single line diagrams (SLDs), and design documentation.
- Support procurement activities including vendor evaluations, bid technical assessments, FAT/SAT planning, and vendor document reviews.
- Manage technical interfaces with other specialists (mechanical, controls, process, civil, instrumentation).
- Support commissioning, energisation plans, punch list closure, and handover into operations.

Engineering Governance & Compliance:
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable standards and regulations (e.g., AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE, site standards).
- Conduct and participate in technical reviews and risk assessments including HAZOP/HAZID and electrical safety studies.
- Support electrical safety and compliance activities including arc flash studies, earthing and bonding, HV switching, and hazardous area compliance.
- Assist in ensuring engineering deliverables meet quality, safety, and operational requirements.

Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Contribute to improvement initiatives in reliability, energy efficiency, maintainability, and standardisation.
- Build strong working relationships with operations teams, project teams, contractors, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Provide guidance to technical teams as required.

- GM Power, GM Production and operations teams
- GM Downstream LNG and EVOL operations teams
- Project delivery and engineering teams
- Procurement and supply functions across CEFA, EVOL, PWR Hybrid

Skills & Experience Required:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience with design, construction and operation of MW scale renewable energy generation systems.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- HV/LV distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection relays
- Motors, VSDs, MCCs, UPS/DC systems
- Earthing systems, harmonics, power quality
- Familiarity with relevant standards such as AS/NZS 3000.
- Experience with project engineering deliverables and execution.
- Capability to work effectively in dynamic operational environments
- Ability to work across multiple business units with competing priorities
- Strong communication skills.

Desirable - Experience with:

- Hazardous area equipment and compliance.
- Hybrid (thermal/renewable/BESS) energy generation systems.
- LNG, oil & gas, or mining activities in remote locations.
- Arc flash / protection coordination / load flow studies.
- Commissioning and energisation planning.
- Reliability engineering and maintenance strategies.
- Asset lifecycle and obsolescence programs.
- MEX Maintenance system, (planning, procurement, inventory)
- Operational Technology Systems e.g. Schnieder Geoscada, Yokogawa PXISE, Inductive Automation Ignition

Location: Perth CBD
Salary: from 110,000 AUD to 115,000 AUD per annum
