JOB OVERVIEW
Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components, ensuring they meet required safety standards, performance specifications, and regulatory guidelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include but are not limited to:
Contribute to the design of primary and secondary electrical systems, including switchgear, transformers, and protection systems
Support the development of schematics and one-line diagrams for substation layouts, ensuring optimal electrical distribution and safety
Work with senior engineers to create comprehensive electrical design documents that meet both operational and regulatory requirements
Provide technical expertise by way of reviewing and refining substation layout drawings, ensuring they are aligned with system performance expectations and safety codes
Use software and perform detailed calculations to plan, design and develop manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications to improve electrical systems
Participate in relay setting configurations to ensure coordinated protection for fault isolation and equipment safeguarding
Support the analysis of fault current levels, system protection schemes, and relay settings for substation equipment
Assist in selecting and sizing electrical equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, cables, and busbars based on power ratings and system voltage levels
Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure that all substation components are integrated seamlessly into the design
Participate in risk assessments to identify potential hazards and propose mitigation strategies
Review designs to ensure safe operation of electrical equipment and implement safety features such as grounding, emergency trip circuits, and fault isolation systems
Maintain thorough documentation of design decisions, equipment specifications, and protection schemes for accurate project execution
Document all design revisions, including any changes in equipment specifications, settings, and system configurations
Perform detailed reviews and quality checks on electrical designs, ensuring they meet project and compliance requirements
Maintain compliance with operational standards to ensure the substation meets grid stability and power quality requirements
Assist with any ad hoc duties as required

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

MANDATORY HARD SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
A minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical engineering

SOFT SKILLS
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
High level of attention to detail and ability to work proactively
Ability to work confidently both as part of a team and autonomously
