Electrical Engineer

Kogan People Solutions are partnering with a well-regarded Darwin-based electrical contracting firm specializing in industrial infrastructure. They wish to appoint an Electrical Engineer to work with them as they work on the next stage of their development journey.

Job type Full time and ongoing

Salary $80k to $85k plus superannuation per annum

Their core business functions are:

Water & Wastewater Automation: They design and maintain the "brains" of water infrastructure, such as control systems for pumping stations.

Industrial Installation: They handle complex electrical installs for large-scale commercial and industrial sites (factories, plants, heavy industry).

System Integration: They build the hardware that controls electricity, specifically designing, manufacturing, installing, and commissioning switchboards and control panels.

Maintenance & Upgrades: They provide long-term care for power and water utilities, ensuring the lights stay on and the water keeps flowing.

Responsibilities:

Design & Specification:

Create blueprints and specs for industrial/commercial projects.

Select specific components like switchgear and transformers.

Project Execution & Supervision:

Coordinate with electricians to ensure they follow the design.

Inspect completed work for safety and accuracy.

Help electricians interpret complex engineering drawings.

Problem Solving:

Diagnose complex electrical faults that are too difficult for routine troubleshooting.

Propose engineered solutions for repairs or upgrades.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure everything meets Australian Standards (AS/NZS 3000, etc.).

Conduct risk assessments and handle WHS (Work Health and Safety) documentation.

Optimization:

Look for ways to improve energy efficiency and system performance.

Introduce new technologies or sustainable methods to the team.

To be considered for this role you should be able to positively address the following attributes:

Highly relevant engineering bachelor’s degree or higher qualification

At least one years or more, of experience as an electrical engineer, preferably in a similar setting.

Proficiency in designing, developing, and supervising electrical systems and equipment.

Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.

Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex electrical issues and implement effective solutions.

Experience conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with WHS and environmental standards.

Ability to mentor and guide electricians on technical matters and ensure quality assurance.

High level of communication skills to maintain a professional face with all client interactions.

Excellent time management skills.
