Experienced and developing engineers within the Mining and Civil industries are encouraged to apply. JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking to develop a Technical Expert in the field of Drill & Blast. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be a key team member responsible for safe and well fragmented blast designs with fine attention to detail to Environmental considerations. As a complex mining operation, you will be exposed to a wide range of blasting environments from through-seam, cast blasting and vibration sensitive through to traditional blasting methodologies. Professional development is at the core of the Technical Services Team and there are defined pathways for engineers to progress their career into both Technical and Leadership roles from Engineer, Senior Engineer, Superintendent to Manager roles within the Technical Services team. ABOUT THE ROLE Provide expertise to improve and optimise the existing drill & blast processes on site Produce designs that promote the safe and efficient mining of waste & coal Engagement within Tech Services and External stakeholders Apply and improve quality control processes for all drill & blast activities Understanding and focus on environmental restrictions Design and analyse blasting performance throughout the mining cycle Ad hoc project work and implementation of new drill & blast technologies ROSTER AND LOCATION Monday to Friday professional roster Based on site at HVO ABOUT YOU A commitment to the best practice of health, safety environment and community at all times Tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or demonstrated practical experience) Passion for problem solving by utilising your experiences, knowledge and lateral thinking skills Excellent planning, organising and influencing skills Experience with Vulcan, Deswik or other CAD software would be desirable EMPLOYEE BENEFITS INCLUDE: minimum five weeks annual leave market competitive salary a safe and enjoyable workplace where everyone is respected valued and empowered structured training and development to support you progress your career education assistance a generous incentive program health and wellness reimbursement program paid parental leave salary sacrificing options private health insurance subsidies Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
