The Role Department: Human Resources Location: Australia Role: Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing Manager (APAC & MEA) Reports to: Head of HR, APAC as well as the Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. About the role We are seeking a dedicated Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing Manager to lead and implement our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) strategy across the Asia Pacific and Middle East & Africa regions. Working closely with regional and global HR teams, internal stakeholders, and external partners, this role is pivotal in advancing our firm’s commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and engaged workplace. This role requires a strategic thinker who can also deliver high-quality, hands-on work independently. The successful candidate must be able to influence senior stakeholders, work across functions and geographies, and manage a dynamic portfolio of DEI and wellbeing initiatives. Key Responsibilities Strategy & Leadership Work closely with the Global Head of DEI to define key priorities for the region and measure performance against these priorities. Work closely with the wider DEI team to ensure global programmes and initiatives are reflective of the needs of our people in our Asia Pacific (APAC) and Middle East & Africa (MEA) offices and ensure regional participation. Identify and execute regional priorities outside the scope of the Global DEI strategy and, when required, design initiatives to accelerate progress against regional goals and metrics. Maintain oversight of all diversity, equity and inclusion activity across APAC and MEA, tracking status and performance against agreed metrics. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across APAC and MEA, including the Regional Management Boards, Regional DEI Steering Committees and broader HR team. Provide support and guidance to the Regional DEI Steering Committees in APAC and MEA ensuring their strategic objectives are aligned to the Global DEI strategy. Provide guidance to Inclusion Networks across APAC and MEA and support these networks in the development of their annual plan of activities. Build strong relationships with industry counterparts across APAC and MEA and ensure the firm is represented in relevant forums. Localise and implement the global DEI strategy across APAC and MEA, aligning with regional legal, cultural, and business practices. Advise leadership teams on inclusive practices in areas such as recruitment, promotions, client engagement, and workplace culture. Conduct reviews of regional progress toward global gender and ethnicity parity goals, and develop strategic, data-driven interventions to close gaps and drive accelerated progress. Education, Awareness & Communications Design and deliver tailored DEI training and awareness programs that reflect local context and legislation. Collaborate with Communications and Marketing to share internal and external DEI content, drive visibility, and celebrate successes. Create and promote engaging content via internal platforms, media, and social media channels. Programme & Project Management Manage regional DEI and Wellbeing programmes, ensuring integration with global Responsible Business initiatives. Coordinate with Environment & Sustainability and Pro Bono & Social Impact teams to deliver a unified approach. Maintain and grow relationships with external partners and clients to enhance programme reach and impact. Talent Development & Representation Champion the recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented talent across the region. Promote inclusive hiring practices and equitable access to development opportunities. Support employee networks and mentoring programs aligned to DEI goals. Data, Measurement & Compliance Collect, analyse, and report DEI metrics in line with local legal frameworks. Track progress against goals, identify gaps, and drive accountability. Manage compliance submissions such as the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) and similar regional reporting requirements. Culture & Engagement Foster a psychologically safe, inclusive environment where all employees feel valued. Celebrate cultural diversity through events and communications. Encourage engagement with DEI initiatives at all levels of the business. Client & Community Collaboration Partner with clients on shared DEI initiatives and promote thought leadership in the APAC and MEA legal markets. Represent the firm at external forums and industry events. Skills & Experience Proven experience developing and implementing DEI strategies, ideally within a professional services environment. Deep understanding of DEI, corporate responsibility, and wellbeing best practices across the APAC and MEA regions. Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong project management and organisational skills; able to manage multiple priorities. Confident in working independently and collaboratively in a global, matrixed environment. Experience in influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams. Comfortable working from strategic planning through to hands-on delivery.
