Western Australia, Australia Job Family Group: Maintenance, Reliability and Turnarounds Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: December 12, 2025 Business Unit: Integrated Gas Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: The Digital System Engineer for the Prelude Digital team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining digital systems that support Shell's Prelude operations. This role focuses on integrating various digital components into cohesive systems that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and business value. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust digital solutions that meet the complex requirements of offshore operations. - Key Responsibilities: Design and develop digital systems architecture for operational technology environments enabling such roles as Digital Engineers and Developers to create applications. Integrate diverse data sources into the Asset Information Factory (AIF), enhancing data accessibility and usability. Lead the development and implementation of digital tools and dashboards, resulting in increased operational efficiency, awareness, and auditability. Provide coaching and support on Power Platform, SQL, and Python, empowering team members to develop their own digital solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address digital transformation opportunities, driving continuous improvement initiatives. Implement and maintain system integration solutions between various digital platforms. Provide technical leadership in digital system design and implementation. Ensure system reliability, security, and performance for critical operational technology. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into system specifications. Develop and maintain system documentation, including architecture diagrams and technical specifications. Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement sustainable solutions. Support continuous improvement initiatives for digital systems. Participate in system testing and validation activities. Coordinate with vendor partners for system implementations and upgrades. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Relevant experience in system engineering, integration, or similar technical roles. Strong knowledge of system architecture principles and patterns. Proficiency in system integration methodologies and tools. Understanding of cybersecurity principles for industrial environments. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities. Knowledge of software development lifecycle processes. Advanced proficiency in MS Office, Python, Power BI, and Power Apps. Preferred Skills & Experience: Experience in HSE compliance, execution coordination, and planning & scheduling. Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in offshore or LNG operations. Proven expertise in identifying job requirements, planning, and tracking to ensure quality, timely, and safe outcomes. Familiarity with Shell digital tools and platforms. Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in industrial environments. Experience with data analytics platforms and visualization tools. Understanding of IoT technologies and edge computing. Experience with agile development methodologies. Professional certifications in relevant technologies or methodologies.
