Our client, Euro Truck Mechanical & Servicing Pty Ltd t/as Euro Truck Mechanical, located in Laverton North, Victoria, is a specialist truck repair and maintenance business, with a focus on DAF trucks. With over 25 years of experience in the trucking industry across Europe and Australia, they deliver reliable, honest service and professional expertise. To continue their service, they are currently seeking a Diesel Motor Mechanic to join their team.
As a Diesel Motor Mechanic, it is essential that you have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to maintain, test and repair diesel motors and the mechanical parts of trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes.
The annual salary is $76,515 to $77,000 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities (Some tasks may include, but are not limited to):
• Reassemble, test, clean, and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies. Employ various instruments to ensure proper functionality before reinserting them into the vehicle.
• Identify issues, establish relationships between causes and effects, and evaluate information from various sources to determine the most appropriate course of action.
• Repair or replace worn or defective parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials, or steering gear. Dismantle these assemblies for inspection, consulting manuals as necessary.
• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including the inspection of fluid levels, brake systems, steering mechanisms, generators, ignition systems, and electrical wiring.
• Utilise hydraulic jacks or hoists to elevate vehicles, facilitating access to mechanical components situated beneath the vehicle.
• Accurately complete vehicle details on requisition orders, including kilometres driven, engine number, registration number, and other pertinent information.
• Diagnose, repair, and replace components related to engine management and fuel injection systems.
• Adhere to all occupational health and safety practices to promote a safe working environment.
• Utilise electronic testing equipment to identify and rectify malfunctions in lighting, instrumentation, electronic fuel injection, ignition, and emissions control systems.
• Provide supervision and guidance to apprentices as required.
• Return specialised tools and reference materials to their designated locations after use.
• Ensure that hazardous substances are disposed of in accordance with established regulations and safety protocols.
• Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the service area, ensuring that all tools and equipment are organised and tidy.
Qualifications:
• Must hold an AQF Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.
• Should have at least one to two (1-2) years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting.
• Should have experience working with heavy vehicles.
• Mechanically minded
• Good with hand + power tools
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
• Verifiable work references
