About the Role
Our client, Hillcroft Farms Pty Ltd, is a large-scale, mixed farming business operating in Lol Gray, Western Australia, with cropping, sheep, and pig production enterprises. With a broad fleet of farm machinery, trucks, and diesel-powered equipment, the business requires an experienced and reliable Diesel Motor Mechanic to oversee maintenance and repair operations across the property.
This role is based on-farm and includes maintaining agricultural machinery (tractors, harvesters, seeders, spreaders), heavy vehicles (feed and grain trucks), and general diesel-powered farm equipment.

Position Purpose
To diagnose, service, and repair diesel engines and mechanical systems used in farming operations, including heavy and light vehicles, ensuring machinery reliability, safety, and compliance with environmental and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose faults in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems on farm machinery and heavy vehicles
• Carry out scheduled and emergency maintenance on tractors, harvesters, trucks, feed mixers, and other diesel equipment
• Remove and replace defective components, including full engine overhauls and part replacements
• Use manufacturer manuals, service schedules, and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues
• Perform testing of machinery and vehicles to ensure repairs meet operational and safety standards
• Maintain accurate service records and logbooks for all farm machinery and vehicles
• Support daily farm operations by ensuring all equipment is in working order during peak seasons (e.g. harvest, lambing)
• Maintain workshop cleanliness, tool inventory, and compliance with WHS standards
• Supervise apprentices or provide guidance to junior staff when required

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
• AQF Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience servicing diesel engines and heavy machinery
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
• Experience with agricultural equipment and/or heavy vehicle servicing
• Sound understanding of WHS and environmental compliance related to diesel servicing
Desirable:
• Experience in rural or farm-based environments
• Valid Australian Driver’s Licence – HR or HC licence preferred
• Roadworthy certification or eligibility to obtain
• Basic welding and fabrication skills
