Overview: Full Time, Continuing Academic Level D/E (Education Focused) position with a three-year fixed term as Deputy Dean, Learning and Teaching Competitive Salary Packaging + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working Arrangements Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University About the Opportunity RMIT’s School of Management within the College of Business and Law is seeking an experienced Education Leader to step into the pivotal role of Deputy Dean, Learning and Teaching. The Deputy Dean role is offered as a three-year fixed-term contract, with an underlying appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level. The academic level will be determined based on relevant qualifications, skills, and experience. In this senior leadership role, the Deputy Dean, Learning and Teaching will drive strategic and scholarly excellence across the School of Management, leading academic quality, program innovation, and best practice pedagogy. The position oversees the design, delivery and assurance of contemporary, market responsive programs, while providing guidance to senior academic leaders and supporting the school’s strategic teaching and learning priorities. With responsibility for chairing key assessment and governance committees, leading regulatory compliance, coordinating funding submissions, and ensuring consistent academic standards across multiple locations, the role offers a significant platform for impact. The Deputy Dean will also foster strong collaboration with offshore partners and campus leaders, ensuring that the School’s programs remain globally connected, future focused, and of the highest quality. The Professor (Education Focused) is a senior academic leader who drives excellence and innovation in learning and teaching, building staff capability and contributing to a vibrant education culture that enhances student outcomes. The role strengthens RMIT’s national and global education networks and elevates the reputation of the School through high-quality educational practice. As a key contributor to the School’s strategic direction, the Professor plays a major role in academic leadership and governance across School, College and University committees, and may also lead a discipline area or strategic learning and teaching portfolio. To be successful in this position, you’ll have: PhD or demonstrated equivalence in management or a relevant business-related discipline Previous leadership experience in learning and teaching within University environments Thorough understanding of academic governance and expertise in the Australian higher education sector Demonstrated experience across interdisciplinary schools from undergraduate to doctorate level, showcasing ability to operate at scale Proven track record of collaboration with international partners and campuses Recognition as an eminent educator at both national and international levels Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
