Key accountabilities: Maintain high-performing and highly available Microsoft SQL Server environments, including scheduled patching, version upgrades and platform migrations. Manage backup, restore and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for on-premises and cloud-based SQL Server databases. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SQL Server Agent jobs, SSIS packages, and other scheduled or automated processes to ensure consistent data operations and minimise downtime. Administer database security, including data access and role-based access control (RBAC), credential management and audit logs. Maintain and support existing integrations and data flows between core business systems, ensuring consistent and reliable data movement across platforms. Maintain and optimise Microsoft Fabric data solutions, including Lakehouses, Dataflows and Notebooks, to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing operations. Migrate legacy or existing data integration solutions into the Fabric environment, aligning with architectural standards, governance frameworks, and business requirements. Monitor and manage Fabric capacity usage, ensuring efficient utilisation and proactive scaling where required. Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the Fabric environment to minimise disruption and maintain data integrity and availability. Promote and assist the uplift of knowledge and skills of existing team members through collaboration, mentoring, and knowledge sharing. Qualifications, experience, skills: Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline. Relevant Microsoft certifications or equivalent e.g. DP-600: Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate and DP-900: Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals Minimum 5+ years’ experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments including high availability configuration, performance optimisation and operational support. Minimum 2 years’ of hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines and integration solutions using Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Fabric. Strong knowledge of data warehousing methodologies, including dimensional modelling, ETL best practices and scalable architecture design. Proficient in T-SQL and SQL development, including writing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, and views. Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and version control practices for managing code, pipelines, and deployment workflows. Working knowledge of Python scripting and PowerShell for automation, data flows and operational tasks. Demonstrated experience in working with a variety of data sources, including on-premises systems, cloud platforms and APIs to efficiently extract, transform and integrate data for analytics and reporting purposes. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server stack, including: SSIS (Integration Services), SSRS (Reporting Services), SSAS (Analysis Services). Demonstrated experience working with data from Microsoft D365 Sales (CRM) and Dataverse is desirable but not mandatory. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, showing initiative, integrity and accountability. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective time management and the ability to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Why BDO?
