Position Overview:
Reporting to the CEO, the Cost Accountant will be responsible for managing and advising on existing and projected costing matters, budgeting, profit and expense analysis, and advising on viability of expansion and business development initiative on basis of holistic financial analysis and principles

Primary Responsibilities:
• Managing overall responsibility for financial position of AdviseU Pty Ltd and providing informed advice and recommendations on an ongoing basis to ensure financial integrity of operations, to manage risks, and to ensure profitable and viable investment and expansion initiatives are implemented
• Contributing to business development, expansion plans, and investment plans by advising on the financial viability of such activities by reference to financial analysis and sound financial principles
• Managing company budget, creating and maintaining local budget workings for the business
• Advising on regulatory compliance matters in financial operations of the company
• Through analysis of historical and trending cost and expense figures, creating, maintaining and updating cost projections working for the business
• Identifying variances in budgeting and cost trends, analysing variances, and advising on issues of concern, possible remedial actions and any short and long-term financial impacts
• Producing and analysing monthly, quarterly and annual profit and loss statements
• Producing and analysing management accounts and internal management reports for board and senior management.
• Maintaining inventory of stock, plant and machinery and advising on cost implications for depreciation, upgrading or replacements, and additional investments
• Contributing to the costing of new products and services to be offered by the business
• Providing education and training to operational and management teams on the management of costs
• Identifying suitable organisation management/accounting software and playing an active role in implementing and navigating software for purposes of company management

Essential Skills and qualifications:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree qualification in accounting or finance-related degree
• CPA or CA certification is preferred but not mandatory.
• At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in an accounting or cost accounting role
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB) and MS Excel.
• Strong technical knowledge of cost accounting practices and principles
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
• High degree of critical thinking and ability to advise without bias or influence
• Good knowledge and grasp of local and broader economic market trends

Working Conditions:

• This is a full-time position based in our office premises in Melbourne, Australia.
• Normal working hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility required during peak periods.
• Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
