Our client, The Food Place Pty Ltd trading as Dawg Boys Everton Park, is seeking a full-time Cook to join their busy kitchen team in a full-service restaurant environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, ensuring food hygiene and OH&S compliance, and assisting with stock control and cost management. This role is available due to ongoing business growth and the departure of the existing full-time Cook, creating an immediate vacancy. We are therefore seeking a reliable full-time Cook who can commence as soon as possible. The role requires relevant experience in a fast-paced kitchen, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a strong commitment to consistency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibility:
• Prepare, season and cook food in dining establishments.
Duties:
• Season, prepare, and cook menu items according to established recipes, kitchen procedures, and presentation standards, ensuring consistency in taste, quality, and timing during service.
• Inspect raw ingredients and finished dishes to ensure freshness, quality, and compliance with food safety requirements; report any quality issues and rotate stock using FIFO principles.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and sanitary kitchen environment by cleaning workstations, equipment, utensils, and storage areas throughout and after service in line with food safety standards.
• Measure, weigh, and portion ingredients accurately to ensure correct portion sizes, minimise waste, and support cost control and consistency across all meals.
• Prepare special dietary meals when required (e.g., allergies, intolerances, cultural preferences), preventing cross-contamination and following any customer or management instructions.
• Assist in estimating and monitoring meal production costs by tracking ingredient usage, identifying wastage, and supporting stock ordering and inventory control as directed.
• Freeze, store, label, and preserve food products correctly (including date coding and temperature controls) to maintain food quality, reduce spoilage, and meet regulatory requirements.
• Follow all workplace OH&S, food safety, and hygiene regulations, including safe knife handling, correct use of kitchen equipment, manual handling procedures, and temperature monitoring.
Qualification:
• AQF Certificate IV or Higher
• Min 3 years of experience in related field
Salary:
• $70,000 - $80,000 + Superannuation
