Why this role Matters: The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services. About the Role: At Flagstaff and The Open Door, we provide accommodation support and assertive engagement for men experiencing homelessness, many of whom face complex needs and vulnerabilities. Our services aim to ensure immediate needs are met, create an experience of home, and build capacity for independence, participation, and meaningful community connection. We work from a Client-Centred, Strengths-Based, and Trauma-Informed framework, ensuring every resident is welcomed into a community of genuine acceptance, compassion, and care. This is a fixed-term full-time position, contracted until June 2026, located in West Melbourne, VIC. Remuneration is in line with SCHADS Level 4. Key Responsibilities: As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in building a safe and supportive environment for residents. You will: Provide individual and group supports, including health, well-being, and recreational activities Support residents to strengthen their independent living skills, social connections, and overall well-being Develop and facilitate group programs to meet residents’ social, educational, and health needs Assist residents to access specialist support services (health, mental health, AOD, therapeutic interventions) Collaborate with caseworkers, specialist services, and external providers to deliver holistic care Maintain accurate records, case notes, and reports in line with TSA and government requirements About You: You are passionate about supporting people experiencing homelessness and thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment.
