About

Supporting the Aged Care industry by providing assistance with activities of daily living to maintain the consumer's independence and remain within their home and community, and may also provide respite to the primary caregiver.

This role is primarily associated with assisting clients with personal care, including but not limited to light and basic bathing/showering, getting dressed and ready for the day ahead. Assistance with a simple cup of coffee/tea or a bowl of cereal may be required.

Own transport and mobile phone required
Weekdays 7am - 1pm initially with expanded hours available
Shifts available in the eastern, western and southern suburbs now
Training and ongoing support supplied
Travel reimbursement

The Personal Support Worker will:

• Always follow the support plan and provide the support and care described in the support plan.
• Advise the Coordinator if support other than that described in the support plan appears necessary or is requested by the consumer
• Promote and foster the independence of the consumer
• Provide active companionship with consumers in their own home
• Report to the Coordinator any changes observed in the consumer, the home’s safety, or other relevant aspects of the home environment
• Promote safety by following organisational WHS requirements and guidelines
• Communicate respectfully with all individuals including consumers, representatives, staff and the community
• Contribute to continuous improvement by involvement in staff meetings, planning days, and feedback mechanisms
• Participate in education and training opportunities face to face and online
• Other duties as requested by the coordinator.
• Actively participate in education and professional development of self and others.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders through verbal and written communication whilst maintaining confidentiality.
• Involve yourself in activities that support continuous improvement and self- development.
• Work co-operatively and develop relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds based on mutual respect and cross-cultural understanding
• Work undertaken in the home and community environment will be in accordance with the organisation’s mission, values, and standards.
• Participate in and contribute to the development of a total safety culture.
• Comply with the organisation’s WHS and infection control policies and procedures.
• Assist the organisation by taking responsibility for the identification, management and or elimination of hazards and unsafe work practices.
