Newlands Closure has a site-based opportunity for an experienced hands-on Commercial Manager to join the team in progressing Australia’s largest coal rehabilitation project. Operating as an extensive Open Cut Mine until February 2023, the site has now moved to a rehabilitation and closure phase with the goal of converting the previously mined areas to cattle pastures by 2029 and achieve relinquishment. With many coal mines in Queensland set to close in the next 20 years, including multiple Glencore assets, your career in rehabilitation will continue to flourish positioning you as a leader in mine rehabilitation and closure. Reporting to the Project Manager/SSE, the Commercial Manager will play a pivotal role in the site senior management team requiring excellent communications skills and the ability to motivate and influence the team and key stakeholders. In this role you will be responsible for: · Financial control and compliance, management and financial reporting, capital and project work justification and approval. · Preparation of site budgets and forecasts, supporting the operation with cost models, scenario planning and cost control systems. · Key user and knowledge expert of financial planning and budgeting software, Xeras. · Change management with supporting financial analysis. · Site contract management, supply, purchasing, and IT functions under your control. Requirements for the role include: · Experience in a similar role within the resources or heavy industry sector (5-10 years), · Qualifications in accounting/business or commerce disciplines. CA/CPA qualifications are preferred. · You will possess strong compliance, accounting, SAP, and Xeras competence. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
