Role Description

This position supports the development of a next-generation modeling and simulation (M&S) framework for the Department of Defense. The program is an experimental effort with rapidly evolving requirements, demanding adaptability and innovation from the engineering team. It provides a flexible environment for wargaming and analysis across domains, from the seafloor to space. The mission is to deliver scalable, cloud-enabled solutions that enhance decision-making, accelerate capability development, and strengthen national security.

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Modeling and Simulation (M&S) development team. In this role, you will integrate with the platform engineering team to advance Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices, manage Kubernetes deployments, and develop Helm configurations that ensure scalability, security, and efficiency.

This position offers the opportunity to support the development and deployment of a next-generation modeling and simulation framework. While direct M&S experience is not required, we are looking for innovative, self-starting engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).
  • Develop and manage Kubernetes clusters, including Helm charts for complex applications and services.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and monitoring for scalability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and implement best practices.
  • Ensure secure, resilient environments aligned with DoD and Zero Trust principles.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues across environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, IT or related field.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Containerization experience with Docker, Podman, CRI-O, or similar.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure Automation & Scripting (Python, Go, Bash, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters and managing deployments.
  • Demonstrated ability with Helm for Kubernetes applications.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, TLS, firewalls, VLANs).
  • Proficiency with Git and Git-based workflows.
  • Strong Linux/SELinux system administration background.

Requirements

  • Security+, CISSP, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
  • Familiarity with DoD security practices and hardened Linux distributions.
  • Experience with service mesh or API gateway technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd, Kong).
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud service providers.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, Elastic).
  • Exposure to Zero Trust architectures and advanced cybersecurity practices.

Benefits

  • Employee ownership with profit-sharing opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and unmatched benefits package.
  • Educational reimbursement and professional certification support.
  • Opportunities for growth on high-impact DoD programs.
  • A culture of innovation and collaboration.
